The Bell Witch Legend is a documentary about a piece of American Southern folklore, a spirit that haunted the Bell family for four years. The legend is told through the words of various writers, historians, and the descendents of John Bell himself. Events in the legend involve the usual manifestations like disembodied voices to poltergeist activity, to unexplained violence, and even spectral creatures. It wasn't just the Bell family who encountered these phenomena (which later, as legends often do, went from being told as a spirit haunting to becoming a witch's curse), even Andrew Jackson enountered the spirit during a visit. And people encounter strange phenomena in the area to this day, including bizarre problems the makers of the documentary experienced while editing the film. They also provide information on how the legend has inspired pop culture over the decades. Was it just a standard haunting, the product of a witch's curse, demonic activity, or something else entirely? We may never know.

The Bell Witch Legend is well-crafted and provides much valuable information, both to the average viewer and to horror writers looking for story inspiration. It shows the legend from many perspectives while also providing a consistent narrative flow that is both intriguing and avoids confusion. Overall, it is a documentary well worth watching.
